I offered vital practical support and life skills guidance to refugee families compelled to leave their home countries, aiding in their smooth transition to their new lives. One impactful instance of this was when I closely partnered with a family from Somalia, regularly visiting their home to provide assistance as they adapted to American culture.
I volunteered at a student-run free clinic in Minneapolis committed to providing healthcare access to diverse communities. Within this role, I acted as an interpreter for numerous Spanish-speaking patients seeking care at the clinic. This experience heightened my awareness of prevalent health disparities and ignited a strong commitment to addressing these gaps, particularly in support of Hispanic/Latinx individuals.
I collaborated with a text line specializing in de-escalating mental health crises. Through this experience, I acquired essential knowledge about typical situations precipitating such crises and honed invaluable communication strategies to assist individuals in attaining a state of calm. My service extended to both English and Spanish-speaking communities.
Established multiple free clinics across Buenos Aires, offering healthcare services to thousands of patients within a week. Gained proficiency in technical skills and Spanish language while working at the wound care station.
