In October 2021, I was approached by my current employer offering a General accountant position at a rare earth project. After rigorous consideration and research on the project, I made a decision to accept the offer with purpose to challenge my technical accounting knowledge in the mining industry.

MNREC's parent is subsidiary of a Singaporean incorporated company. And as part of my role, I also started to manage accounts and liaise with banks and Singaporean entities for tax and accounting matters of the parent.

Following are few examples of my current line of work:

• Managed accounts payable and receivable functions, maintaining accurate records and timely payments to vendors while collecting outstanding invoices.
• Prepared the monthly and seasonal tax reports including VAT, CIT, Withholding tax, PIT and their month-end closing process by preparing financial statements, variance analyses, and account reconciliations ensuring tax compliance.
• Improvements of financial accuracy by conducting thorough account reconciliations and adjusting journal entries.
• Collaborating with external auditors during year-end audits, ensuring compliance with regulations and accurate financial reporting. MNREC is audited by one of the Big four audit firms.
• Monthly payroll calculations and submission of Social and Health Insurance reports to the authorities.
• Assisted with budget preparation, monitoring expenses, and providing timely updates to management on variances.

I was promoted to Assistant Audit Manager before resigning from KPMG in November 2021.

To mention brief description of my roles as a Senior auditor:

• Different from audit associate, promoting as a Senior auditor, my role mainly involved more audit planning, budgeting, client relations rather than manual audit procedures such as vouching documents and agreements against account ledgers, recalculation of expenses and stock counting etc.
• Managed multiple audit engagements and leading the auditing team for small to medium sized entities.
• Enhanced audit efficiency by recommending and implementing risk-based audit strategies and streamlining processes with a discussions with Audit managers and Partners.
• As an audit senior it was also our responsibility to help out the new joined junior auditors quickly adapting to the KPMG environment and work practice and culture, contributing to their professional development and enhancing team performance.
• Collaborating with the client management and give recommendations to develop effective internal controls and accounting practices, resulting in improved, more financial integrant accounting practice was crucial part of my job.
• Implemented best practices in auditing procedures through continuous learning and professional development activities using in house resources at KPMG.

• Worked audit engagements in various industries including banking and non-banking financial institutions, communications, manufacturing, non-government organizations and representative office.
• Reviewed general ledger transactions to identify errors or irregular entries.
• Assessed financial statements and records.
• Supported senior auditors in the preparation of detailed reports for management, outlining key findings and areas for improvement.
• Completed audits in accordance with regulations and procedures.
• Participated in workshops and educational opportunities to build skills set and add value to department.
