  • As a claims processor I was required to adjudicate Medicare claims and take appropriate actions to resolve discrepancies. We often work backlog of denied/rejected claims for timely resubmission. We were tasked with managing assigned queues and ensured we kept up to date and current on all claims and meeting productivity criteria. If necessary I obtained documentation and provided to claims supervisor upon their request for billing and audit purposes. Our work also required we follow all applicable Medicare and MN regulations including HIPAA. I was diligent when we had to adhere to claim turnaround times, not too often but on occasion assisted with work with service on provider or member claim issues for a resolution. With claims processing we often sent letters to communicate with providers and Member for claim issue resolution. As a claims processor my ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail was strengthen. I also demonstrated the ability to work efficiently and calmly in an environment with changing priorities. Overall, I feel this line of work really helped me developed into a more detail-oriented person and have become more efficient with time management and strong communication skills. I reviewed risk managements, behavior support plans, and individual support plans. The team consisted of 1 case manager, the day program coordinator and the guardian. I was on call 24 hours and 7 days a week. I answered emergency calls when necessary. I also held fundraisers and seeking donations to help the programs acquire fun new things. Lutheran Social Services allowed me to be the vehicle for abundance in the lives of the individuals we support. I also was given the opportunity to be an exemplary leader to the staff.
