My name is John Frey, im an aviation student at the University of North Dakota. Im a student pilot working towards my private pilot license. I have always had a strong passion for being a pilot coming from a long line of pilots in my family. I started taking college level aviation courses in high school.
My previous jobs have helped teach me skills that i would also need as a pilot. While I was a delivery driver, I would have to run pre and post checklists for the truck and trailer, similar to what I would have to do with pre and post flight inspections. I would also navigate from one location to another which taught me valuable navigation skills that I actively use while flying.
Working in restaurants can be very fast paced and communication skills are very valuable to be efficient during these times. I learned how to listen and respond while also doing my task assigned. These communication skills helped me tremendously while communicating with ATC while it can be busy and very fast paced.
Im excited to continue working towards future license and certificates at the University of North Dakota for my degree to become a commercial pilot.
