Grapetree is a self-employed agency company which gives their employees the flexibility to choose their own hours and schedule. I work in long term care, assisted living, memory care, and transitional care. Some of my job duties at these facilities are answering patient call lights promptly, responding to requests, assist in patient ambulation those including lifts such as hoyers, EZ stand, and sliding boards. Assisted patients with daily living activities such as bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and more.
This was an exciting offer from an agency company known as Volt. I was able to work in a different perspective in healthcare. During this opportunity I greeted patients and visitors with professionalism and warmth. I was educated on how to manage multi-line phone systems to direct calls efficiently. Maintaining patient records, ensuring data accuracy in the system. Assisted patients with insurance verification and billing inquiries. Scheduled appointments and coordinated with healthcare providers through a system known as Epic. Assisted patients with transportation provided by the company. Faxing and emailing documents to providers. Being able to work through another aspect of the medical field has improved my skills and knowledge. I now understand and have experience in both positions strengthening my ability to my work performance. Given the short timing of this position was solely due to an agency term as well as gaining the experience for future opportunities with similar requirements being able to expand my impact in the healthcare field.
As a cna, I assisted residents with daily living activities, personal hygiene tasks, and ensured their needs were being met. Documentation is key to ensuring the residents are receiving the best care for their specific needs. I am familiar with electronic health records such as POC, PCC, and much more. I also monitored vital signs, reported changes, assisted in wound care, administered insulin, applied medicated creams as well as patches, and gave medication, some being narcotics. Transitioning to team lead has provided me with knowledge and experience in discussing and addressing concerns, coordinating workflow among team members, monitoring team performance, providing leadership and guidance to team members, as well as training oncoming new members. I have worked with assisted living residents as well as those with Alzheimer's. This has resulted in my ability to understand the needs and wants of residents without proper verbal communication but rather body language. I have also established on how to properly de escalate and prevent behaviors.
