I am currently a junior nursing student at The College of St. Scholastica, specializing in Women and Gender Studies. Through my academic experience, international study, and hands-on work as a nursing assistant, I have developed strong clinical, communication, and patient-centered care skills that I am eager to bring to your team.
My educational journey has also been enriched by global learning experiences. I studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain, for a semester, gaining valuable insight into cultural perspectives on health, wellness, and community-based care. In the spring of 2026, I will be studying abroad again in a program titled The Science of Happiness, which examines the world’s statistically happiest countries and explores how healthcare systems contribute to well-being. These international experiences have broadened my understanding of holistic health, patient advocacy, and the importance of culturally competent nursing care.
In addition to my academic preparation, my experience working as a nursing assistant has been central to my growth as a healthcare professional. I provide direct patient care, support activities of daily living, monitor changes in condition, and collaborate closely with nurses and interdisciplinary teams. This role has strengthened my ability to remain calm in fast-paced situations, communicate clearly with patients and families, and advocate for individuals with varying physical and emotional needs. I’ve learned the importance of empathy, patience, and teamwork—qualities that I carry with me into every interaction.
My earlier work as a childcare provider also contributed to the development of strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills. Navigating conversations with parents, supervisors, and children helped me build the confidence and adaptability required in healthcare environments. These combined experiences have shaped me into a compassionate, organized, and proactive caregiver.
I am pursuing nursing because I am deeply committed to supporting people during some of the most vulnerable and meaningful moments of their lives. My long-term goal is to work as a nurse-midwife, advocating for patients, amplifying their voices, and providing hands-on support during one of life’s most extraordinary experiences.
