Olivia Brockman

As a barista, my responsibilities included greeting customers in a friendly and helpful manner as they entered the store, along with preparing and serving beverages according to the caribou menu. I was knowledgeable about our store menu and what we offered which allowed me to answer questions that customers had about the products. As the environment would often become busy and fast-paced, I maintained a clean and organized workspace to increase efficiency and ease. I gained much experience communicating with other team members to create a positive and efficient environment for everyone working.

As a dance teacher, I taught dance technique classes for kids ages 9-11. Throughout my time teaching, I gained many organization skills as my responsibilities included choreographing and teaching students a piece for a student showcase at the end of each term. I also served as a mentor for the kids I taught, guiding them through conflict resolution and team-building activities.

As a short-term seasonal staff member at a summer camp, I learned a lot about youth development and child safety. My daily responsibilities were extensive, and included organizing and leading daily activities for campers, serving as a lifeguard, and keeping the camp clean by working in the kitchen. Over two weeks, I was a cabin counselor for a group of 10 girls and acted as their guardian in helping them stay safe and involved in activities. I often had to act as a mediator in situations of peer conflict, making sure that every person was given the opportunity to have their voice be heard. While working this job, I learned a lot about being a leader, advocating for the needs of young women, and staying organized to maintain a safe environment for kids to learn and grow.

As a short-time employee at Minnesota State Fair, my responsibilities included working alongside a large team of people to bake and serve cookies to customers. It was a fast-paced work environment, and I learned to be efficient and organized in order to maintain a clean and functional kitchen.
