The police aide program was set up as a method to help ease a transition for young adults intending to become police officers by allowing them to do administrative duties as well as the duties of a jailor. My responsibilities included the booking and processing of prisoners as well as the fingerprinting and photographing of them. It also included the safeguard of all prisoners in custody during my shift. Alternatively, I was also required to keep immaculate records of all persons in custody as well making reports of my own regarding incident that occurred while they were at the city jail.
